Abramovich fury at missing out on Rooney

Post by baker.simon on Sat Apr 03, 2010 11:23 am

Abramovich is quite mad that he was persuaded not to buy Wayne Rooney back in 2004. It seems Peter Kenyon issued a warning to Abramovich and told him to cool his interest in him due to his temperament.

I kind of agree. Whilst Rooney had potential right from the start his temperament was suspect. I think if he had gone to Chelsea then he wouldn't have turned out as he has now. Fergie is the kind of leader that can keep young players in check so it was the best place for him.

Either there or Newcastle, who also bid for him at the time. How times change....

this isnt taking the piss but he wouldnt be half the player he is if he went to newcastle, with all the Turmoil at newcastle he would have struggled to settle

I agree, Man Utd has been the best place for him to 'grow up' for want of a better way of saying it.

Abramovic has seemed to calm his spending lately.

He just used Chelsea as a toy the first few seasons then realised that his bank balance was getting smaller
