    Chelsea - Spurs (A) 17 April; Stoke (H) 25 April; Liverpool (A) 1 May; Wigan (H) 9 May
    United - Man City (A) 17 April; Spurs (H) 24 April; Sunderland (A) 2 May; Stoke (H) 9 May
    Arsenal - Wigan (A) 18 April; Man City (H) 24 Apr; Blackburn (A) 1 May; Fulham (H) 9 May

Chelski lose against Spurs. We're one point behind.
We win against Spurs, they win against Stoke.
They lose against Looserpool, we win against Sunderland (sorry Dave Very Happy), we're up 2 points.
We win against against Stoke, they win against Wigan.

    We win the title.

    Simples.

Post by Vic Taylor on Sun Apr 18, 2010 10:52 am

Having recovered from yesterday, here's my review. Smile

Can't believe we won it like we did. I mean, how totally awesome is Scholes! I remember watching Utd play for the first time, and disliking him greatly because he missed a penalty in a shootout. Can't even remember the competition.

Thought it was a great game, and Utd were obviously the superior team. There was an overall flow we had that we haven't had over the past few games, due to Rooney not being there. As he was back though, even in the capacity he was, it gave the side a new lease for life.

Edwin Van der Sar - What can you really say? I told my parents several times throughout the game that this man was superhuman, and he proved it. Did you see the diving save he made from that freekick?! 7/10

Patrice Evra - As always, he was strong at left back, getting forward and back pretty easily. I did notice though, that he seems to be getting tired over the past few games. To be fair, he has played every game of the season and, while being the only player to do so, he still deserves a rest. 6.5/10

Vidic - Can't spell his first name. Sorry. He was, as he always is, a rock at the back, guiding the less experienced Evans, and making a good few tackles. 7.5/10

Jonny Evans - I may be somewhat biased here, as I haven't liked this kid from day one, but I don't think he works well with Vidic. It's not pretty when you see your two centre backs cross each other's paths in mid-air due to a lack of communication. I think there are many replacements for Ferdinand. This kid is not one of them. *cough* Sakho *cough* 5/10

Gary Neville - I'll be honest. Before this season started, I hated this guy's guts. Over the course of the season, however, after seeing him reclaim the right back position with style, I have revised my opinion. Even though his pace is not what it used to be, and I think he should get forward a little less, as he was caught on the break a few times, he's solid at the back, and I like him. Smile 7/10

Darron Gibson - He wasn't up to much this game. I don't think Fergie should have gone with the 4-5-1 approach. A few players didn't fit into it, and this was one such player. I believe Fergie intended him to play down the left, but he was often switching roles with Giggs. While I'm all for free roles, I don't think he worked here. Man City didn't play the stand-off football Gibson plays so well with. He needs teams to stand off him and give him time on the ball. He got neither here. I would have replaced him with Nani in the starting line up. 6/10

Ryan Giggs - Played well on the left, getting a few good crosses in. He hasn't got the pace he used to, but really made up for that in skill. Got to say, the oldies are still pretty good. XD 7.5/10

Darren Fletcher - I honestly didn't see a lot of him. I think he was very much the holding midfielder in the centre of the field. As City played most of their balls down the wings, there weren't too many chances for Fletcher to get involved. 6/10

Paul Scholes - Apart from the goal, he didn't do much, but when he was needed, did he deliver or what?! Pretty sure he set Manchester alight with that goal. Very Happy 8/10

Antonio Valencia - Played an absolute blinder down the right hand side. He also made a good job of tracking back and making sure Bellamy ended up on his backside in the mud. XD 8/10

Wayne Rooney - He brought the life back to the side. Without him we're rather, as Simon put it, "average", and the energy in the side yesterday was apparent. Even though he didn't do much, as he still looked rather injured, he had a good comedy diving moment. 6/10

Good Points - The energy and flow of the team
    The attacking full backs precision
The way we choked their play
    The never give up attitude

Bad Points - The lack of offense created by Rooney
The lack of communication between out two centre back
    Not taking our chances

MotM - Paul Scholes - For the determination and skill.

Weakest Player - Jonny Evans - For poor communication with his partner.

    I believe he's decent.

I gave him a chance when he first came into the side, but he just doesn't seem to work well with Vidic. I've actually seen them collide in mid-air.

I think he would do better partnered with Ferdinand.

Very wrong about Evans. He played very well. It's not easy to stop Adebyor and he did it with ease a lot of times.

He showed how good he is on the ball. Great marking. If he can improve his aerial ability a bit and his tacklin, and he has time, he''ll be world class ball playing defender.

A perfect replacement for Rio. IMHO Rio wasn't as goog as Evans is at the age of 22.

Scholes didn't do too much? Kidding me? What about his long range passes and his control of the ball in the middle? Outstanding.

Evan's lack of communication with Vidic was my complaint. Not his overall performace.

I've already been told I worded Scholes' roundup poorly. What I meant was that everything else he did was seemingly dwarfed by his goal.

They haven't played a lot of game together (Vida and Evans) so you can't expect the communication like beetwen Rio and Vida. MOre woringly is VDS's communication. He had a couple of mistakes because of that (most notable one being when he punched the ball, and we had to clear it from the goal line - Vida cleared it) Also when didn't shout to Vida that he has man behind his back, so (Adebayoor I think) almost took advantage of it.

But, overally good performance from VDS. His height played key part in catching that Tevez's freekick. Very Happy

Well, Evans and Ferdinand haven't played too many together, but they seem to be able to communicate fine.

Maybe it's just Ferdinand's great communication skills? Very Happy

He can do a lot more than "nothing". He plays better with Rooney next to him, as he doesn't have the high work ethic. But he does do stuff. The way he dribbled through the defence and backheeled the ball to Evra was real skill.

It's not hard to play when your confidence is so low.

Yes, he can do a lot more. It's just there is small little problem: he doesn't do a lot at all. Smile

He can only play in Germany and that's about it. In Italy defence is too strong for him, in Spain they are dirty and aggressive a lot. And all Berba do is watch for his legs, for someone not to kick him. Pussy.

    Sell him please. Thank you.

I think he is not good enough for Man Utd and needs to be sold in summer.

He'll be 30 next January. That tells you if he doesn't have confidence now, he'll never have it. He is not youngster so that his confidence could go up & down like he is in puberty. He should be complete player by now and complete person also. Shouldn't let some thing affect, which obviously do.

Oh, no way he is improving his work rate now when he is 29. Wink You learn that at young age.

at his age he can't learn much new things. He is here for two years and didn't learn anything new. Always uses the same things. All he can gain in his age is experience.

Edin Dzeko (not because he is Bosnian like I am) - Typical player for EPL. Tall, strong, exellent in the air, good technique, very good finisher also.

Every characteristic to be a great player in EPL for Man Utd by acting as a target man who would lay off balls to Rooney who now plays in attacking tole. And he would score goals himself too. And he is 24.

How much do you think Dzeko would go for?

Personally, I don't think Berba will be sold simply because he fits into SAF's way of playing. Sitting in front of Rooney on the pitch and picking up the loose balls. He's actually better as an attacking midfielder...

Though I admit at times I was screaming at him to "fucking run" when the wingers were sprinting up the pitch and he was jogging. Neutral

On a completely unrelated subject, it's nice to have a talk about Utd with someone with half a brain, and not 'Coldberg', for a change. Smile

Oh please Simon take him.

I think Wolfsburg would settle from 20-25 mil pounds realisticaly.

Against Balckburn, 10 minutes to go, and Berba rolls over on the grass faking injury while others are running like crazy. What a pussy yet again.

Nah, Coldberg just think he is SAF. And because he is maybe from Manchetser and goes to games, that he is better or greater fan then me. Total rubish. I know more then a lot of them think.

I also think Bebra will stay...just because no one wants to buy him. Wink At least not for even the close price that we bought him for. No one would pay for him more then 10 mil pounds ATM IMO.

Joke, right? Wink Surley we can. It's just that SAF is a smart greedy man. He doesn't wants to spend big. But, unfortunately he'll have to change his view towards some things.

We spent 7 for Smalling and 10 for Chicarito (unconfirmed fo Chicharito though). I'm sure if SAF would want to spend that much, he would be easily able to do that.

With the debts... I don't know if SAF will be given that much money tbh.

I'm still positive if SAF wants that money he can spend it.

    That's it?

I would sell Gibson over Carrick tbh.

For buying I think we need a young, promising striker and an attacking midfielder.

I'd keep Gibbo until 24 (24 is ussually the year a player gets completed technicaly and physicaly). So, let Gibbo have some more chance.

    As for buying:

First choice right back, have O'shea as a rotation or backup.

    Rotation or backup for Evra.

    Rotation or backup for Nani.

First choice MCa and have Ando as a rotation or backup.

    One striker.

At right back we have Neville, Rafael, and O'Shea, so don't think we need another.

Fabio has got to play a few more 1st team games at left back next season, instead of Evra playing them all. That way we can have a good look at him and see if he measures up.

I think we have enough wingers, as Giggs can play down the left and Park can play down the right.

Where is Park btw? I don't like him, but Fergie usually plays him a lot more than he has recently.

    IMO:

Neville should just be there next season. If it wasn't for his power of will he couldn't do anything.
Rafael no ready enough for the senior football.
O'shea not quality enough the be first choice.

Fabio - the same for Rafael.

Valencia and Park as a right wingers and Nani and Giigs as left. Giggs also just to be there next season. So, as I said either bring someone to be first choice left winger and have Nani as a rotation or backup or Nani to be first choice and have rotation or backup for him.

    Park is injured ATM.

David Gray is coming from Reserves for the next season. So, no need after all for the right back to be bought.
